Benzagel Acne Wash is an acne-prone skin preparation treatment designed to be used in conjunction with Benzagel Acne Gel, to enhance the effectiveness of the benzoyl peroxide medication. Its unique formulation is micronized (reduced to tiny particles) to effectively penetrate the skin and kill the bacteria that cause acne inflammation.

Medicinal Ingredient:
5% benzoyl peroxide.

Non Medicinal Ingredients:
Cetyl Alcohol, citric acid, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propylene glycol, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium citrate, water.
Use this medicine only as directed by your doctor. Do not use more than recommended on the label, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Avoid contact iwth eyes, nostrils, lips and mouth, if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. For external use only. Keep tightly closed. Protect from heat. Keep out of reach of children. May bleach fabrics.

Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, it is especially important to avoid using the following skin products on the same area as benzoyl peroxide:

Any other topical acne product or skin product containing a peeling agent (eg, resorcinol, salicylic acid, sulfur, or tretinoin);
Hair products that are irritating, such as permanents or hair removal products;
Skin products that cause sensitivity to the sun, such as those containing lime or spices;
Skin products containing a large amount of alcohol, such as astringents, shaving creams, or after-shave lotions; or
Skin products that are too drying or abrasive, such as some cosmetics, soaps, or skin cleansers.
Using these products along with benzoyl peroxide may cause mild to severe irritation of the skin. Although skin irritation can occur, some doctors sometimes allow benzoyl peroxide to be used with tretinoin to treat acne. Usually tretinoin is applied at night so that it doesn't cause a problem with any other topical products that you might use during the day. Check with your doctor before using any other topical medicines with benzoyl peroxide.

1) Shake the bottle well before opening it.
2) Wash your face gently with warm water and dry with a towel.
3) Test the wash on a small portion of your face, testing for irritation.
4) Fully apply the wash in soft, circular motions on your skin. Be careful to keep away from eyes and mouth.
5) Rinse with warm water.
6) Use the wash once a day to start, then go up to twice a day once you get comfortable; once in the morning and once before you go to bed.

Disclaimer: It may take a couple of weeks at least to start seeing results depending on severity of the acne. Slight stinging, peeling, and redness may occur; this is evidence that Benzagel is working.
If you have a severe case of acne and you do not see improvement after a couple of weeks, consult a doctor.
The 5% benzoyl peroxide formulation in Benzagel® is the most effective acne-fighting ingredient you can get without a prescription. Benzoyl peroxide helps to clear up acne in two big ways. First, it works by adding oxygen to the skin. The red inflammation you see around acne pimples is caused by a bacterium called P. acnes, which can’t live in the presence of oxygen. So introducing oxygen to your affected pores is how benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria that cause acne inflammation. Second, benzoyl peroxide helps remove excess oils from your skin, and removes the dead skin cells that clog pores. Blocked pores lead to comedones that can become blackheads–or the dreaded whiteheads–so unclogging your pores is an important step in relieving acne.

One issue some users may have with benzoyl peroxide is that, especially for those with sensitive skin, it occasionally causes redness and stinging. A good idea is to use it sparingly at first, and if you feel irritation start your routine with every second day until your skin adapts to the treatment, gradually building to twice a day (not more). Applying Benzagel® Wash with your fingertips rather than a washcloth or mesh sponge is another way to reduce skin irritation. And remember that benzoyl peroxide can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so reduce your sun exposure and wear sun protection.
